Give the Gift of: Comfort

For this, I chose to give something very special to my little sister, Amelia, who we adopted into our family as a baby. She's been in our lives for five years now and I cannot express enough how much I love her and hold her dear. Nearly a year ago I moved out of state and away from her and it has definitely been tough for me. I mean, I practically raised her since birth and moving away made it feel like I was leaving my own child behind. It was hard on both of us. 

For this contest, I didn't want to do what everyone else was doing. Sure, I would love to give her my love, my creativity, heck my life if it came down to it. But I already do that. Constantly. So, something else that would be meaningful. Something that I want to give her and always continue to give her. And it clicked.

I've always tried to keep her protected from the harshness of the world. And I know that she'll sooner or later will end up having to deal with the mean cruel world on her own. And that's why I want to give her comfort. Comfort from the bad things that happen or may happen in the days to come. Comfort that she can find in her big older sister. Even though I live so far from her now, I want her to know that I will always be there for her and I will never leave her spiritually, and no state, ocean, or continent will ever keep me away from her. 

Of all the things to be doing during this, I'm balling like a baby. 

Drawing was done in a Piccadilly Sketchbook with a .5 mechanical pencil. Coloring and photo editing was done with a Wacom Intuous Pen & Touch Small tablet and Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.
